Abstract
Primitive neuroectodermal tumor(PNET) is a highly aggressive neoplasm belonging to the Ewing family of tumors. PNET with a primary renal localization is very rare, about 50 cases being reported in the literature. We report on a 39-year-old man who presented with an incidentally detected left renal mass and underwent radical nephrectomy with the presumptive diagnosis of renal cell carcinoma. The pathological examination of the tumor revealed PNET of the kidney. Although the tumor was clinically localized, adjuvant chemotherapy was performed. The patient remained free of disease for 38 months after surgery.
